Welcome Fall Photo Contest!

My favorite time of the year, and I don't see any of it here in South Florida.  While I do love the sunny weather and warm temperatures, I miss the days of falling leaves and brilliant color changes.  I have added some new fall and holiday items to my website, check out my newest additions on my right column!  I am having a photo contest, if you have any beautiful fall photos you would like to share, please email  them to me and I will post them to my blog and enter your name in my monthly contest to win a $25.00 gift certificate!

Coming Soon! CPSIA

For those of you that have never heard of CPSIA, it is a new law that is threatening to put millions of crafters out of business. While this law I am sure was passed with the best intentions, it requires lead testing on all items that will be used for children under 12 years old, it was created quickly and without much foresite to the ambiguous nature of the law. This law applies to ALL items that are intended for children under 12 and includes toys, clothing, bedding, the list goes on and on. Many in the hand crafting industry are calling Feb. 10th "National Bankruptcy Day" because anything that is sold after this day that has not been tested for lead will be illegal to sell. Lead testing is very expensive (we are talking hundreds and thousands of dollars per unit) and just not feasible for small businesses to do. While we as crafters, designers, and boutique owners want to be compliant and provide the safest items for our children, unfortunately many will not be able to continue with their business. For more info on this issue please check the following links.

Show and Tell Monday!

I don't know about you, but I love vintage chenille! I have been collecting scraps for a while and finally got some things together, these are a couple of baby quilts, but I hope to get a larger one done for myself soon!

Happy Holidays!

I can't believe how long it has been since my last post. I have been so busy working on my business there seems to be no time to work on my blog, but I am hoping to get busy on it more regularly again.

Here are a few photos of one of our recent trips to Atlanta, the leaves were beautiful and the weather cool and crisp, a wonderful change for us! My littlest one has caught the photo bug, she has her own digital camera now and took the last two photos of the fall scenery. Not too bad for a Hello Kitty camera!

My Favorite Place!

It is only April but I am already dreaming of our visit to my favorite place that will be coming up in September: Sannibel Island, Florida.

I first visited Sannibel in high school on a trip to visit my uncle who lived in Ft. Myers, Fl. I was fascinated by this tranquil, calming place and could never get it out of my mind.

After moving to South Florida I was determined to make the trip again and it was just as magical as what I remebered. I wish I could leave everything and take up permanent residence there, maybe someday, but now I will be content with visiting. I wanted to share this special place with my girls and they love it just as much as I do. From the expansive beach, warm, calm water, and unbelievable shelling, it is paradise!

I just wanted to share some photos of our previous trips, what is your favorite place?

The boardwalk to the beach at dusk. The evenings are the best time to walk and collect shells, you can also catch a few glimpses of the dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico!

Awesome Shelling! Our last visit we found over 10 varieties of shells, but you have to throw back the live ones! I want to keep them all (as evidenced by the bowls of shells throughout my house). It must be the cancer the crab in me!

My two bathing beauties! The water is so warm and calm, you can walk way out and still be only knee deep in water.

My favorite time of day is shelling with the girls.

I have just added some new shabby and sweet fabrics to my site! So sweet in a basic pillowcase dress, bloomers, or lounge set! Your little one will be the talk of the town.
